Our incredible Front of House and Office Assistant, Mia, talks us through some ways in which we have adapted throughout the last year to provide for even more awareness and support of wellbeing in work.
2020 was rough. There’s no other way of describing it! But maybe during this challenging time you; asked for help, slowed down and found new ways to prioritise self-care? Maybe you even spent more time with your pet! All of these are elements to help improve your well-being and avoid feeling burnout. Naturally, we compare ourselves to how we might have been before all of this but we can’t change this current state, only how we react to it. So it is important to appreciate the ‘little’ things as they have a huge impact on us on our day to day performance, our own feelings and how we interact with each other.

At J’adore Models we introduced a new Wellbeing segment to our Monday morning full staff meeting to encourage one another to share tips on these ‘little’ things that are helping us get through the day/week/month and even year! By carving out this specific time, it enables the team to stay positive, calm and focused at work. Some of the top tips we have been sharing amongst the team include workouts with Alice Liveing and EMK HIIT, book and podcast suggestions such as Dr Rangan’s Feel Better, Live More. In addition, we now all have been given full access to Calm which has so many beneficial features to improve wellbeing and get a good night’s sleep from stretching, meditation, sleep stories and more.
I’ve been chosen to host this wellbeing segment each week and I prepare by sharing top tips and words of wisdom (!) to encourage people to remember they’re doing their best, staying kind and compassionate and grateful. During this time we have the opportunity to inform each other of our successes from the previous week and spread positivity – whether these are models completing a killer casting video or booking a Burberry campaign – big or small this important feature reminds us what amazing things can be achieved even throughout these difficult times. It’s nice that everyone, no matter what their role, can acknowledge their small wins and share these reminders to keep the whole team pushing forward.

We have also introduced a Model Voice programme allowing any of our models to voice opinions and specific needs, if any one of our models needs any reassurance they can email a dedicated account where a team member will come to them with guidance and support on any issues they may be facing. Helping others helps your own self positivity! We’re also hosting our own virtual Wellbeing Fest – keep your eyes peeled for more on this.
If anything should be taken from 2020, it would be to look beyond the superficial, think deeper and notice the small things that make you happy! We really believe in adding value and investing in ourselves and others and maintaining a consistent focus on the importance of wellbeing in the workplace is a key factor in this.
